Deadly Healer

Investigative reporter Eden Ryan came to Portland hoping to leave her past behind. A new city, a new newsroom, and a chance to rebuild her career are exactly what she needs after a painful breakup. Her first assignment, however, is anything but ordinary.

Alongside brilliant but infuriating investigative journalist Jared Gates, Eden begins looking into whispers surrounding Dr. Charles Morgan, the celebrated psychiatrist at Cedar Hills Hospital. To the public, Morgan is compassionate, respected, and untouchable. But behind locked office doors, vulnerable patients disappear, medical records are altered, and lives quietly unravel.

As Eden and Jared peel back layers of deception, they uncover disturbing connections to a suspicious death in Washington, D.C., the disappearance of a judge who once tried to expose Morgan, and a growing list of people willing to kill to keep his secrets buried. When Jared discovers his own mother has become one of Morgan’s patients, the investigation turns deeply personal.

The closer they get to the truth, the more dangerous the game becomes. Anonymous threats escalate into attempted murder. Witnesses vanish. Trusted allies can’t be trusted. And Morgan always seems to know their next move before they do.

Forced to question everyone around them, Eden and Jared race against time to expose a man who has spent decades perfecting the art of manipulation. But bringing down a predator who hides behind a white coat may cost them everything, including their lives.

In a world where appearances can be manufactured and truth can be medicated away, the most dangerous person isn’t the one carrying a weapon.

It’s the one everyone believes.

Deadly Healer by Shelly Meyer pulled me in from the very first chapter and didn’t let go. It’s a smart, fast-paced mystery filled with heart, danger, and the kind of emotional depth that makes the story stay with you long after the last page.

The story follows investigative reporters Eden Ryan and Jared Gates, who uncover a chilling case of abuse and death linked to a respected doctor. What starts as a simple lead quickly spirals into a dangerous pursuit of truth. Shelly Meyer blends suspense, romance, and moral courage beautifully, showing how determination and conscience can triumph even in the darkest situations.

I loved how real and layered the characters felt. Eden is strong and fearless but still deeply human. Jared’s loyalty and inner conflict make him a perfect complement to her drive. The supporting characters especially Tina, the Assistant D.A. add so much realism and emotional weight.

Meyer’s writing style is smooth and vivid, her pacing sharp, and her world-building grounded. The story moves like a movie in your head, you can feel the tension, the newsroom pressure, and the emotional pulse behind every discovery.

If you enjoy medical thrillers, investigative mysteries, or strong female leads, you’ll love Deadly Healer. It’s suspenseful, heartfelt, and satisfying all at once.

Highly recommended,a must-read for fans of mystery with meaning. šŸ’™

Deadly Healer is a masterfully crafted suspense novel that had me hooked from the very first page. Blending investigative journalism, chilling medical corruption, and heartfelt romance, this story delivers tension, emotion, and justice in the most satisfying way.

Eden Ryan is a strong, intelligent, and determined heroine who refuses to back down in the face of danger. Her partnership with Jared Gates is electric not only professionally as they uncover the horrifying truth about Dr. Charles Morgan at Cedar Hills Hospital, but emotionally as their relationship develops under immense pressure. Their chemistry feels authentic, layered with vulnerability, jealousy, and ultimately deep trust.

The investigation itself is gripping and disturbingly realistic. The unraveling of Dr. Morgan’s crimes from lethal doses of medication to abuse and assault is handled with intensity and care. The stakes feel high at every turn, especially as Eden risks working alone when personal conflicts threaten to derail both the story and her relationship.

The supporting characters add depth and strength to the narrative, particularly Tina, the Assistant District Attorney, whose role in bringing justice is empowering and satisfying. When the final front-page article is published and Dr. Morgan is arrested, the payoff is immensely rewarding.

This novel perfectly balances suspense and romance while shining a light on courage, integrity, and the relentless pursuit of truth. A thrilling, emotional ride that deserves every one of its five stars. Absolutely marvelous!

Deadly Healer by Shelly Meyer is a fast-paced medical thriller that kept me turning the pages. The investigation into Dr. Charles Morgan is tense and unsettling, especially as more disturbing details about his actions come to light. The hospital setting adds an extra layer of creepiness because it’s a place that’s supposed to feel safe.

I really enjoyed the dynamic between Eden and Jared. Their partnership felt realistic, and the added complication with Andrew created believable tension without completely overshadowing the main story. The legal angle with Tina, the Assistant District Attorney, also made the case feel more grounded and high-stakes.

It’s an engaging mix of crime, journalism, and romance, with a satisfying sense of justice at the end. If you enjoy investigative thrillers with strong female leads, this one is worth the read.
